Baa, Bahu aur Baby - Religious Preachings

I saw Baa, Bahu aur Baby today. It is always a pleasure to watch this serial but today was especially good because it even taught me something. It is very rare that a serial actually teaches you something apart from scheming and extra-marital affairs. I think its not only Indian TV serials but I have seen British and American soap operas and concluded that TV soap operas are not close to real life even in these countries. I think that is another reason for it to be so popular. Maybe people staying at home want a different kind of life and that is why they adore the characters so much. These characters marry at will and also divorce at the drop of a hat. They get rich and the bad guy always dies in the end of the serial. Lovers meet and live happily ever after.
But this is not why is started writing this blog. The reason for this blog is blind faith in religion. I have always been an ardent opposer of blind faith and never believed in all the so called miracles (performed by gurus and babas). In last weeks episode of this serial also one of the bahu’s is a blind follower and is ridiculed by all her family members. I could relate to doing that to my mother but the second half showed something that was thinking out of the box. It showed that something happens which cannot be explained. The main protagonist said “if you look for a scientific explanation for this then you will find it but if someone gets happiness and assurance believing in it then why stop them?”
I think this is very true. We should let believers believe in anything till the point they don't do harm to themselves or others. I think we all want to be happy, if someone wants to believe in something and get happiness then why stop them? But always be cautious that the faith does not blind you from reality and practicality.

Kasauti Zindagi Kay - Mukti's death

I am not very happy by starting my Blog with this post but I think it is best time possible. In today's episode of Kasuti Zindagi kay on Star Plus, the main protagonist; Mukti; died. She had been the main character in the storyline and had been involved in a love story for over one year now. It was a tragic episode because the day she finally got united with her lover, she died. My blog is not to discuss if it was sad or bad of the story writers to just bump her off but to bring to everyone's notice that one episode can actually bring about so many emotions (especially anger) in people.
Indian people are very very emotional about their serials and start relating to the characters of every episode, whether it is Tulsi of KSBKBT or Parvati of KGGK or Kashish of KTH. I have read so many blogs and forums about KZK yesterday and they all depicted a surge of hatred for the creator of the serial and anger beyond description. They all felt duped and cheated that the creator made so much hype about the two lovers uniting and all of a sudden one of them was dead.
The same kind of uproar was seen when another main protagonist of another serial KSBKBT was bumped off and the producer had to face the wrath of the general public. They started pelting stones at her house and starting having a lot of processions outside her house. This forced the producer to change the script and get the character back in the serial.
This also shows that the creators of these serials have a very very big responsibility and it goes on to show that they can influence the general public so much. They should create serials which inspire people to do the right thing or guide them through their problems. It should be inspirational and should be liberating. I am personally a TV addict but am not a blind follower!!!
